What are the roles and responsibilities of a Style Blogger?

Blogging started as a personal diary about anything in a blogger's life. Some chose Travel, Food, Lifestyle but I picked Style Blogging. From Lookbook website, I decided and transitioned posting looks on my personal site. As I consistently updated my blog with some style inspirations, it was the time I gained readers who loved commenting (either negative or positive) and kept on brightening up my day. Since then, I just noticed that there were no clear responsibilities on how to be a style blogger. In my own perspective, here are the tips on what must be the social media roles of being one.

1. Each fashion blogger should be an advocate. One of the reasons why our readers love to visit our blogs it is because we are imparting many ways of styling ourselves. In case they may ask us, our opinion is a necessity to their questions. The only responsibility that we must have is not to be insensitive about the issues of body image. Every harsh word or a piece of advice we are giving can hurt or lower down their confidence.
2. Each style writer must give importance to education. Most especially for fashion enthusiasts or professionals like models or bloggers, it hurts to be called dumb or dull-witted. Although we are not trying to be boastful, it will be best to prove them wrong. It will not hurt if we will juggle our studies with fashion blogging. What about being one of the dean's lister or a bachelor's degree under your belt? Sounds cool, right? :)

3. Sense of Post. One point that each style blogger is missing is the quality of posts. Perfect pictures are superb, but an out for a count story for your OOTD is a no-no. With a given statistics, 70% of your readers are after the cool snapshots, but the rest will read, check your story and even your grammar. Telling your daily encounters are all fine, but repetitive scenarios or same style write-ups can produce boredom.
4. Be an inspiration. One topic to tackle is how we can touch lives through fashion blogging. It is not about the way we post pictures on Instagram or the way we post looks on our blogs, it is all about setting goals in life. These plans in life that you successfully set-up are somewhat contagious, making people inspired and wanting to achieve the same "life trophies" you first dreamed of.
5. Make everything true, don't fake. A major responsibility of a style blogger is to tell our readers what are the brands we are wearing (as easy as that). People will always tell if we are wearing a mock-up clothes, shoes or bags of a well-known brand. If lying will make everything easy for us, we need to think again. Let us remind ourselves that being dishonest will land our blogs and butts in the junkyard.
Being tagged as a fashion blogger is easy but the entire work or hobby is hard. It will entail roles and responsibilities that we must remind ourselves to do before doing anything. In your own sense of words, what makes you a good style blogger?

  5. I have to agree with number 3. I know a lot of "fashion" bloggers who are known for their great outfit photos but when you actually go through them, it's just mostly pictures. They are totally missing the point. A real fashion blogger would explain why he or she chose that specific outfit, right? Or something like that.

Anyway, this is a great post Sef. I hope newbie fashion bloggers would be able to read this so they would be guided accordingly. :)

Btw, if you're open for guest posting exchange, I would love to post this on mine. :)

  8. This are all true. A style blogger should keep this in mind especially no. 5. As a style blogger we shouldn't be afraid of what brands to wear, whether if it's branded, or not, or just bought from a thrift shop. Being a style blogger doesn't mean you have to splurge all your money to expensive clothes, accessories, shoes. We just have to be true to our selves.
